How to play

You need to reach the far shore of the bog, stepping from tussock to tussock. Every tussock is either solid or it sinks — you can't tell which in advance.

  • You can step onto an adjacent tussock: if it's solid you stay; if it sinks you slide back to the shore.
  • Or first throw a stone at it (−1 stone), so you know for sure whether it's solid before you step.
  • You don't have enough stones to test everything — you have to take risks.
Score = stones left − falls.

How the more complex game works

Same bog, but now every tussock shows a number: the stake. You still can't see whether a tussock is solid or will sink.

  • Step on a solid tussock for +the points shown by its number.
  • Step on a sinking one and you lose half of the number, and go back to the shore.
  • Throw a stone (−1 stone) to find out in advance whether the tussock is solid.
  • Big numbers are worth a lot, but even when you sink you only lose half of them.
Round score = points earned on tussocks + stones left × 2.
